Further info concerning Dennis and his parents.

William McKillip, b. abt 1818 in Ireland, d. after 1862 and before June 1880. Listed as a grocer in the 1850 and 1860 censuses in Ward 1, Kenosha, Kenosha County, Wisconsin. Married to Bridget.

Bridget (maiden name unknown), b. abt. 1824 in Ireland, d. after June 1880. She is listed as a widow in the 1880 Illinois census so William died between the 1860 and 1880 censuses (still trying to find them in the 1870 census).

Children:

Susan McKillip, b. abt 1846 in Massachusetts
Daniel McKillip, b. abt 1848 in Wisconsin
Mary A. McKillip, b. abt 1851 in Wisconsin
Dennis Carney McKillip (also spelt Karney), b. abt 1851 in Wisconsin. Married Mary Henry Jones.
Sarah McKillip, b. abt 1855 in Wisconsin
John McKillip, b. abt 1855 in Wisconsin
William McKillip, b. abt 1859 in Wisconsin
Thomas McKillip, b. abt 1862 in Wisconsin

In the 1st Ward, Kenosha, Kenosha County, Wisconsin 1870 census, there is a Mary Duffy listed as a grocer and with only one other member of the household, Thomas McKillip, aged 8. In the Cook County, Illinois 1880 census, Bridget McKillip is listed with three of her children (John, William and Thomas) plus a 17 year-old boarder named William R. English, born in Wisconsin, and a 62 year-old boarder named Mary Duffy, born in Ireland.

It appears that William died before the 1870 census and Bridget moved with her family (except Thomas for some reason) to Chicago. Thomas stayed behind in Kenosha with Mary Duffy (could she be William's sister?). By the 1880 census, Mary and Thomas had moved to Chicago and were living with Bridget.

I'd be interested in any information on any of these individuals, McKillip, Duffy or English.

David
