Hello all -- help!!

I'm looking for the father of:
David Alexander McKellip
b. 9 May 1833 in Bedford Co, PA
d. 25 Jul 1915 in Quincy, Adams Co,IL
m. Mary Cook
fought in Civil War: 13th Ohio Company B

Father is reported to be named John, born in PA
Mother is named Elizabeth, also born in PA

I've spent hours pouring over the PA census and cannot come up with a link. Anyone out there have any clues?
