John McKibben (1728-1798) is my 5th great grandpa.I have the "3000 Descendants of John McKibben" by Sally Jordan Reed (no longer in print), several McKibben family trees and lots of old photos etc.Send me a current email if you'd like the following photo attachments.
*Thomas McKibben jr.1788-1868 (my ggggrandpa)
*Thomas McKibben jr. family composite (daughter Samantha...my gggrandma)
*DAR memorial stone to John McKibben's Fort Hand (built around his original log house and manned by Continental Rev.War troops. in Wash.Twp. PA).Google up "Fort Hand" for more info.
*"Gnadenhutten Massacre"...brothers Thomas sr. and Samuel(John's sons) participated in this tragic affair...along with other PA militia.Google it up for all the info.
*The old "McKibben School" as depicted in this painting owned by Bob McKibben. The school was around before photography existed and is now long gone.
There is a town called "McKibben's Town" still in N.Ire. that was originally "The Craigs" in County Antrim. The name was changed because the majority population were McKibbens...and still are.The story goes that a school teacher varied the spelling of the name (en..on..in..an) to facilitate record-keeping as to who's who. There are McK. sheep farms there today!
