researching the mckibban name in Iowa, madison county

hello everone, my name is Lloyd McKibban Jr and I need some help in researching my family history. Recently my father passed away and my Uncles have always wondered about our family and our past relatives. Some relatives who have passed always stayed tight-lipped for some reason thus never shared even my great-grandfathers name or any of his off-spring. But luckily I have stumbled upon the name of William McKibban born in 1871 in Ohio to Josiah and Lucinda (shearer) McKibben. Now it is confirmed more or less that our last name dropped the 'e' and replaced it with an 'a' for some unknown reason. My uncle has also heard of this that at some point the 'e' was substituted with an 'a'. Now I haven't confirmed by birth records that william was actually my great-grandfather because my grandfathers birth records haven't been found to substantiate this. There is good reason to believe he is because of the county he farmed in and was buried in is the same as the one my father was born. So if anyone knows of anyone who can help i would appreciate it. Thank you.
