The following are excepted from an article by Dale H. McKibben sent to me by my Grandomther Glennie Emogene Costin McKibben (William Cecil McKibben)

McKibben / Gillon - Founding Families of Yalobusha CO, MS
Soon after the opening of the Choctaw Cession lands two friends John A McKibben and Hugh Gillon, SR org. of Coddle Creek NC headed to MS and settled in the Yalobusha Area of Mississippi. Dated cannot be pinpointed but it was between 1840 and 1845.

Pre Migration Records:
John A Mckibben born in 1800 poss 1801
Alick McKibben m. Agness Wiley Mecklenburg Co NC (1796)
Possibly John A. Mckibben;s parented but not proven
John A married Mary Duest on Jan 31 1825 then Sarah Hannigan on Sept 27 1827 (no one knows what happened to Mary
it appears that Mary was the mother of 1st 2 children and Sarah the rest (census says six but only 5 are accounted for)
Nancy A Mckibben married David L parrish on Sept 16 1842, Nancy is the daughter of John A and Mary but stayed in NC
The two had children who inter married and this is the result

Migration to Mississippi:

1950 Census reports the following
Name Sex Age OCC B/Place
John A M 50 Farmer NC
James Earl M 17 NC
Mary Ann F 15 NC
Hezekiah E M 13 NC
Martha J F 11 NC

No wife was mentioned
James Earl was handicapped and had a short life span
He had a son William Adam then 22 not on census record

in 1860 Same persons were on Census except James Earl
William Adam had Married Sarah Gillon and had 3 sons

1870 Census
only John A, Mary Ann and Martha remained in Household

Hezekiah had married and was living in Grenada Co due to the formation of new County

by 1880 thefamily had dissapeared and Hezekiah lived in Calhoun County with wife 2 sons and 2 daughters
William Adam lived in Yalabousha Co with wife (Sarah Gillon) near coffeeville.( Fought in Civil War)

Alex Harvey Gillon (born SC)is the eldest son of Hugh and Jemima Gillon and Married Elizabeth McKibben both (NC)
had an infant Daughter that died ( Elizabeth died sometime during Civil War)
After the Civil war the McKibbens moved ino calhoun County and the Gillons stayed in Yalabusha and Grenada counties

After the Civil War county records not the several of the McKibben's and Gillon's had the notation GTT by thier names GTT means Gone to Texas (which meant either Texas or anywhere west of the Mississippi River)however :

William Adam McKibben and Sarah Gillon McKibben remained in Calhoun county and had 9 children all boys 7 of whom erached adulthood and 6 of whom fathered children bearing the surname McKibben ionly one of these children went GTT
so even though I only have the records of 2 of these children we re suer thatthe are more decendants in the North MS area;
The 2 decendants of William Adam Mckibben and Sarah Gillon McKibben are as follows:
