Hi Richard,

I've just recently found that a great great great grandmother of mine was a McKibben. After a long search I found her maiden name on the death certificate of one of her children. I then visited the McKibben forum & your Web site. I think my 3g grandmother is the Rebecca you show as the daughter of Richard McKibben and Sarah Carmine, born 1808 in Vinton Co., OH.

In my family tree Rebecca married a William Nichols (can't find when or where) and had 10 children. Per the 1850 census (Waterloo Twp., Athens County, OH), Rebecca Nichols was 43 years old, which would mean she was born about 1807. I believe this fits in with your Rebecca McKibben. (Of course, just to confuse things, the 1860 census in Waterloo Twp gives Rebecca's age as 55, which would mean she was born in 1805.) By the 1870 census, Rebecca and William had returned to Vinton Co. and were living in McArthur–my great grandmother and her sister were living with them at that time. Rebecca's age was given as 63, which agrees with the 1850 age/birth year guess. Also, if she began having children about 1826, she probably married the year before and would have been 17 or 18 years old. This would also explain why she didn't appear in her mother's household in the 1830 census.

I read your Web site with interest; you've certainly put a lot of work into it. I wondered if you could give me your source for the birth information and names of Richard McKibben's and Sarah Carmine's children, Rebecca in particular?

In case you'd like more info on my branch, the following are the children of Rebecca McKibben and William Nichols:

Joanna Nichols, 1826-1907, m. James Boden in 1844 in Athens County, OH (6 children resulted)

Sarah Jane Nichols, 1828-abt 1870, m. Hiram Lowry in 1850 in Athens Co. (5 children resulted, one of them my great grandmother)

John W. Nichols, 1831-1914, m. Sarah Dixon in 1850 in Athens Co. (6 children resulted)

Emily Nichols, 1834-1903, m. (1) Robert A. Clutter in 1853, Athens Co. (2 children resulted) & m. (2) Thomas A. Scott in 1865, Athens Co. (4 children resulted)

Caroline Nichols, abt 1837-unknown, m. unknown if at all....

Justus Nichols, abt 1845-unknown, m. unknown if at all....

Fletcher Nichols, abt 1847-unknown, m. unknown if at all....

Louisa M. Nichols, 1849-1941, m. John J. Hamilton in 1869 in Vinton Co., OH (no children except an adopted son)

Per the obituary for Louisa Nichols Hamilton, she had two other sisters of unknown age; both predeceased her.

Please let know if you want the names of Joanna's, Sarah's, John's and the others' offspring. I have records and some pictures.
