I'm seeking any info on the following family so if any of this sounds familiar, please gimme a shout. Some time prior to 1882 Mary Ann McKeown emigrated from county Donegal and/or county Down to Boston Mass. There she married John McLaughlin, who operated a waterfront coal hauling business. They lived at 187 Endicott St. and had Ellen (B:1882) & Grace (B:1884). At Ellen's baptism at St. Marys Church Peter McKeown & Ann McLaughlin were listed as the sponsers. John died early on under mysterious circumstances but Mary Ann McKeown went on to great success as a seemstress eventually employing several girls in a shop making custom dresses for rich Boston Brahamins. Anyone have any suggestions where I might find more info...perhaps trade info re: the needle trade in Boston? Thanks in advance Notify Administrator about this message?
