On 3 Feb 1847 Ambrose B. McKeon was married to Nancy Jane Moffittt in Peoria County IL. Apparently within a few months they started west on the Oregon trail arriving in Clatmos Co OR in the fall of that year. Apparently Nancy Janes's father Joab Ward Moffitt accompanied them. In the 1850 census they were enumerated in Astoria OR. With two children--M. McKeon 3 years old b-OR and William McKeon b-1849 in OR.-- J. W. Hoffat (Moffitt) age 45 B-OH was living with them.
In 1853 Samuel and Melissa(Moffitt)Epley also left Peoria Co for Oregon arriving there in the fall. Melissa eldest daughter of Joab and Aurellia Moffitt had married Samuel Epley on 18 Jul 1849 in Peoria Co. We believe Aurellia and the remaining Moffitt children accompanied the Epley's on their journey to Oregon ( In the 1850 census of Peoria County Aurellia and the other four children were in Peoria County enumerated with John Moffitt age 47, possibily a brother of Joab.
In the 1860 census of Clatsop Co OR, Aurellia and the four remaining children had rejoined their father Joab WARD Moffitt in Astoria.
