Mary,
I don't think your John McKenzie is descended from my Scottish immigrant ancestor Alexander who died in Lewis Co.,KY in 1807. Of 9 kids (all born in Lewis Co.), there were 3 sons, John (1790-1874), Thomas (1795-1876) & Alexander Jr. (c.1801-1860s). The later two migrated to Fulton Co.,IL before 1850 to remain; Alex Jr. never married and Thomas' two sons remained in IL.John (1790-1874) remained in Lewis Co., KY and his only son Alexander (1818-1869) and wife Amanda are buried next to his parents at East Fork Cem. in that county as are their sons, another Alexander (1856-1921) and Cyrus (1854-1914), neither of which I know anything more.Doesn't sound like your John nor his progeny can fit into my Alexander's clan AND I know nothing about other McKenzie clans; I am descended from immigrant Alex's oldest daughter.
If you have anything more to ask of me, can you e-mail me direct at [email protected]? Dick Olds, Portage, MI
