Hi Pamela - what info I have differs somewhat from yours. But first let me give the more correct info relating to my original post.
Rhohra McKensieMaster: John Murray of Prince William Co, Va
begin July 7, 1777age 4father: Murdock McKensie
Dettingen Parish Vestry Book 1748 - 1782, 1787
This is the Murdock who interests me.
There is a 1735 land patent granted by Gov Wm Gooch for 900 acres to Malcolm McKenzie (var sp first and last name) which may be of interest to you. This was later devised to John Roberts and Wm Roberts. This land was in Bromfield Parish near Great Battle Run, also near to Wm Chapman's land. In 1768 Murdock McKenzie, and wife Jemima, sold 82 acres to Daniel Rector on the north side of the Burgess River at the mouth of Little River. Murdock is also found listed in an administration by James Kennerley for John Hemingway and Margaret Crone ... don't recall the date.
You will note that the Chapmans, Johnstons, and McKenseys are fairly represented in the New River Valley of Va. Also, there is listed an Amy Mair (possibly related to the person mentioned with similar name in your post), stepdaughter of Murdock McKenzie m. a Mr. Certain in May 1788.
Murdock McKenzie of Scotland arrived in Chatham Co, N.C. in 1802 and is later found in Ala. Quite an interesting fellow. Hope this helps.
