I am searching for the Parents of Jean McKENZIE who was born probably around c1719 poss. in Edinburgh area, who married Thomas MOODIE. Thomas and Jean had sons Robert, James and John (that I know of) and daughters Helen (b.bef. Oct. 24, 1744 in Nor. Berwick, East Lothian, Scotland), Anne and Rachel MOODIE. They apparently came to America (prob. SC) and Thomas was listed in some sort of Court documentation between he and a Robert Hogg, a merchant in Nor. Berwick, Scotland in 1772. In this court document it mentioned several of Thomas' children. Thomas Moodie was also listed as a "merchant". If anyone can help I would be most greatful for the info. Also anything further on this MOODIE family would be most appreciated as well as I believe they may be linked to the James G. MOODIE of Charleston, SC whose family intermarried with Robert Trail CHISOLM's (spelled that way) also a 'merchant' of Scotland. This James Moodie's middle name was Gairden which is a common name found in the Angus-shire, Scotland area. A David MUDIE who was from Montrose, Angus, came to Perth Amboy, New Jersey in 1685 with several of his children and about 13 servants. David was also a "merchant". His wife's name was Isobell GAIRDEN! I believe there may be a connection here, and am trying to resolve it. Thank you very much. Notify Administrator about this message?
