Barbara,
Patrice, who wrote another posting on this family, clued me into this family.I agree that Julia Ann, wife of Azeral McKenzie, was most likely a Carson and the daughter of George Carson and Elizabeth _____, who were in the 1840 census of Pike Co, MS.Elizabeth Carson age 60 is in the hh of Azeral McKenzy in the 1850 census of Pike Co, MS.Also the name Elbert McKenzy is interesting, because I descend from Elbert Hillard Carson b.1854, MS who is a son of Samuel Carson, (son of George and Elizabeth Carson).
From the 1850 census of Pike Co, MS and the 1880 census of Marion Co, MS, the following are children of Azeral McKenzie and Julie Ann Carson:
George W. McKenzie b. abt 1843, MS
Nancy E. McKenzie b.abt 1845, MS
David R. McKenzie b.abt 1847, MS
Elbert J. McKenzie b.abt 1848, MS
Quittman McKenzieb.abt 1860, MS
Nathan McKenzie b. abt 1861, MS
Warren McKenzieb.abt 1864, MS
Oscar McKenzie b. abt 1875, MS
There are probably other children between Elbert and Quittman, but I don't have the information from the 1860 and 1870 censuses.
