My husband's grandmother, Elaine McKendrick descends from Daniel. Her oral history had him as a ship builder in New Orleans, came around 1850's. She said when General Sherman came to town, Daniel, wife and son Mark closed the big house and took the first available ship to Paris to wait out the war. I am also interested in any information anyone might have about this family. Elaine talked of Virginia Fletcher's recollections of Speyer on the Rhine, but I don't know much about Daniel's or Virginia's lines except she said Daniel's mother's name was Catherine McElroy.
