Please tell me more. My gg-grandfather had a brother, Dr. Martin Henry Martin. The two brothers moved from Liberty County, Ga to Decatur County, GA some time after 1833 and before 1840.They were counted in the 1840 and 1850 Decatur County censuses.
I (and several other Martin family researchers) were under the distinct impression that Martin H. Martin, M.D. first married Nancy McKelpin and had two children by her.1) John Henry b. 10 April 1842 and Mary L. b. 4 Aug. 1843.We know that his second wife was Sarah Jane Curry (they married in 1847).They had the following choldren: William Lawrence b. 28 Sept. 1848; Charles L. b. 29 Sep. 1851, Alice b. 13 Aug. 1853 and Sarah jane b. 15 Oct. 1855.Martin H. Martin died on 3 Oct. 1855, just before the birth of his youngest child.
If another Martin Martin lived in Decatur County at the same time, I've been unable to find a record of it.Are you sure that your Martin Martin moved on or were there two of them?Where was yours from?Who was his father?
Would appreciate hearing from you.
