On the Letter from "Western Creek Nation, March 7th 1829", David is listed under Witnesses as "David McKillop".
I am personally going to do more research under that particular spelling, as that is how his name frequently appears in his family (himself and various descendants).
McKellop seems to be getting us no further back than we already are, and that is frustrating for someone who should easily enough have some sort of paper trail (White, Scottish immigrant, Methodist Missionary/Minister, War Veteran, etc.).
