I am David McKalip, Grandson of William Ralph McKalip. I am descended from james McKalip (1794-1864). The sequence back from me is David (me), Michael, William Ralph (brother of Marvin Samuel), Thomas(1877-1929), Samuel, James M. (1816-1860), and then James (1794-1864). What I can gather is that James McKalip married Margaret Hunter who was the daugher of Revolutionary War captain James hunter Sr. of County Tyrone Ireland.

However I am stumped on where James McKalip came from. I don't find a McKalip on the first U.S. census (1790) and assume he and his parents came from scotland. I don't know if he is descended from the MacKillop clan that was masaquered (all but two men) in 1745 by the British at the battle of culloden.

Any info on James McKalip from 1794 would be very much appreciated.
