John McKalip (1819-1890) of Pennsylania

I am a great grandson of Marshall Irwin McKalip, a son of John's who was a native of the Pittsburg area. I am interested in learning more about my family. I have heard that John changed the spelling from McKillip, the way his father James (1781-1866) spelled it. Are those of us who use this spelling related? I Would like to learn more about the McKalips in Pennsylania. I am a native of California where Marshall died in 1922 and have never met anyone with the same last name as me. I found some great information using the "Family Tree" software from Broderbund. I have no McKalip relatives left except for brothers and sisters and my Dad (Marshall's grandson) was born after his death. There wasn't much contact between California and the relatives in Pensylvania. Please contact me if you have anything you would like to share or I can share with you. Thanks
