Hi there. It is a long time since I have looked at this forum so sorry about the late posting.

If you want to know more about David McKellar, who CD McKellar refers in that letter to as Caird. There is a book of from his daughter's diaries. It is called "Life on a Mexican Ranche" by Margaret Maud McKellar, edited by Dolores L Latorere and publiched by Lehigh University Press. ISBN 0934223319

It covers the time that this family came to Mexico from New Zealand, the murder of David McKellar and after.

Well worth reading, especially if you like westerns.

The Mt McKellar in Antarctica was named after CD McKellar by Ernest Shackleton as CD McKellar was one of his sponsors. I also believe there are some McKellar Islands near one of the Australian bases.

But of more direct interest to me is a McKellar Glacier at S72.12000 E167.07000 which is named after my father who was on a geological expedition there in 1958.

My daugter was in Antarctica last December too so there must be something polar in the Mckellar blood.
