Fredrick McKeen
I'm looking for descendents of Fredrick McKeen (first name could be written Frederick, Fredric, or ?? with middle initial H. or K.) who was born between 1856 to 1859, and died in February 1917 in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota.
Fredrick McKeen lived with my great grandparents, John Wesley 'Wes' McKeen (1-29-1843 to 2-19-1906) and Hannah Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Atkinson McKeen (3-31-1846 to 2-25-1926) per the 1875 Litchfield, Meeker County, Minnesota 1875 census.Fredrick was listed as age 19 and a member of their household.
I don't know what relation he was to them - brother, nephew, cousin, etc.
Per the 1900 and 1910 U.S. census for Minneapolis, Minnesota, Fredrick and his wife Agnes McKeen's children are listed below:
Edwin W. McKeen, born 9-1889
Ruth A. McKeen, born 8-1892
Fredrick G., born 1-1895, a twin
Kingsley L., born 1-1895, a twin
Note above, Kingsley is also the last name of my great great grandmother, Maryy Ann Kingsley (born 1813) of Portland, Maine, who married John V. McKeen in 1840.
John V. McKeen was born about 1811, possibly in St. Andrews, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada. He worked as a shipwright (carpenter/joiner) in Portland, Maine, before moving his family to Minnesota in 1858.I do not know John V.'s parents or siblings.
John V. McKeen's known children were:
Elizabeth McKeen, born 1842
John Wesley McKeen, 1-29-1843 to 2-19-1906 (my Ggrandfather)
Mary E., born 1845
Samuel K.K. (or R.R.), b. 1848/1849
James K.K., b. 1851, d. 1852 in Ellsworth, Hancock County, Maine
Per the 1850 U.S. Maine census, Alvina Kingsely (b. 1830) lived in the John V. McKeen household also.
I only have more information on my Ggrandfather, John Wesley McKeen. His children were:
Charles Wesley McKeen (6-16-1867 to 5-22-1928)
Ethel Mae McKeen, twin (4-30-1870 to 8-27-1873)
James Arthur McKeen, twin (4-30-1870 to 7-25-1873)
Edith Abigail McKeen, (1873 to 7-25-1906)
LeRoy Athelbert McKeen, my grandfather (3-17-1879 to 3-19-1959)
My grandfather was LeRoy.He was the only one of his siblings to have kids. However, his older brother, Charles Wesley McKeen, married Mrs. Amanda A. (Annie) Davis and in this way he had one adult step-son, Mr. Paul O. Davis, an architect in Los Angeles, CA, circa 1920.
LeRoy's only child to have kids was my Dad, Charles Bertsch McKeen (7-26-1907 to 10-3-1974).
Note that my Dad's brother, Paul Fredrick McKeen (1917 - 1987) was born August 30, 1917, and given the middle name 'Fredrick'.Note that Fredrick McKeen died in February 1917.
Besides the 'Fredrick' and 'Kingsley' name coincidences, Fredrick McKeen was a millwright (per the census's).My Ggrandfather, John Wesley McKeen, whom Fredrick lived with, was also a millwright (as was Charles Wesley McKeen).
If any of these folks ring a bell and/or tie to your family trees in some fashion, please contact me.
Thank you!
