I don't know if this fits but earliest known ancestor was Nathaniel McKee b. c1797 in PA and moved to Ohio. He and his sons ran boats up and down the Ohio as far as the Mississippi.

As far as tempers, my great great grandfather wrote that the McKees would just as soon fight as not when they got mad.

Does anyone have a Nathaniel.
