Hi--I am just beginning to research the McKees in our family. I was struck by a few items in your posting: Collens and Kentucky. My great-grandfather was Samuel Collins McKee of Sparta, IL (1858-1914). He was of a second marriage and named for his father (1814-1893). 1850 census records for Randolph Co., IL show that the elder McKee was born in Kentucky. Do you know where in Kentucky your McKees are from? Just speculating, but I can't help wondering if there is a connection. Thanks.
