As Cathy Farrell knows, my main research are the families in and around John McKee the Founder of Mckeesport buried at Versailles Cemetery. He was moved to the top of the hill in the old section of Versailles Cemetery in Mckeesport.

Part of my family are in the Lewis and Clark lot C32 and other lot in and around the old sections of ABCDEF.

With that, there are some interesting things that have come up. Some believable and some not.

First my great grandfather, Jacob Myers in 1870, was living with the Ryan and McCloskey family in McKeesport. He worked for Union Major James Ryan who was married to Mary McCloskey the sister of Cardinal John McCloskey. Then James Ryan's brother was Catholic Bishop Stephen V Ryan of Buffalo NY. The Cardinal's brother was Bishop William McCloksey of Louisville KY.

James was killed by a horse in Mckeesport in April 14 1887 and there was a rather large funeral in McKeesport that just about involved everyone who lived in McKeeport. At least that is what the McKeesport Daily News is stating on the front page.

Cardinal John McCloskey's family seem to have some connections to the Catholic Church in France who were involved in the Louisiana Purchase headed by Catholic Bishop Talleyrand.

The people in the Lewis and Clark lot are connected to Ellen Hutchison the daughter of Wealthy Pittsburgh shipper Lewis Hutchison. Ellen Hutchison married Secretary of War and Pittsburgh lawyer Edwin McMasters Stanton.

By coincidence or not the Methodist Church in McKeesport was started by James McMasters and at least some of the Hutchisons lived in McKeesport.

I have more on this and this research on the families around John McKee that might give you an idea of who these Mckees might really be or who they know.
