Samuel McKee, the son of James and Lydia Todd McKee, was born July 3, 1764, in Augusta Co Virginia. He was a hero of the Revolutionary War, fighting under Washington, and being present at the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown. On ______________ he married Betsey Lowery and had the following children:
(list repeats at end of my message here)
The children were all born after 1792 so would not be your Robert. Depending on where your Robert was from they could have been related but there is no way of knowing that from this booklet.
Following the listing of the children, the following comments are made:
.........His grandparents were William and Elizabeth McKee, his great-grandparents were William and Mary McKee. Samuel McKee died June 3 1842.
.........The McKees, Lowrys and Todds are said to have come across the pond about the year 1736, and settled in Pennsylvania and Virginia. ..............
Further comments............They came from Ireland and north of Ireland. There is said to have been twelve brothers three sisters of the McKees and about as many of the Todds and Lowrys...............
Further............The McKees are of good fighting stock. They have been well represented in every struggle in which their country has been engaged from the time of the Revolution and up to and including the Spanish-American War.
Of the twelve children of Samuel McKee and Betsey Lowry, his wife, three: Samuel McKee, Jane McKee and Eliza McKee died while young. The others married as follows:
Nancy married Samuel CHORN
John married Rachel ELLSBERRY
James married Sally WILKERSON
David married Elizabeth TOMPSON
Mary (Polly) married ___________REDMAN
William married Lucinda YEATES
Melvin married Mary B MCADOW
Sally married John RAGLAND
Elvira married Covington DIX
The remaining pages of the book are the lineage of each of the children and their children in most cases. Only showing birth and death dates. NO LOCATIONS GIVEN.
This copy of the book/booklet was shared with me by a poster on this forum 7-8 years or so ago, maybe longer, I failed to record the post and haven't located them again. All I recall is the email address was roadrunner.com or .net and they lived in VA. If I could I would give them credit here for sharing this book. The info is certainly a treasure for those descended from this line which is so hard to document.
