Hi,
Information I have on my Father.Ambrose Edward McKee Jr.b.Feb.03,1929,Oakland CA.d.Nov.19,1999 Portland, Oregon, was my father, however he was actually the third Ambrose Edward McKee.My Grandfather was Ambrose Edward Mckee Sr.b.Jun.10,1889,Joplin, Missouri,d.Dec.07,1972Portland,Oregon was acutally Jr. when his father, Ambrose Edward McKee Sr.b.1859 St.Louis,Missouri,d,1905, was alive, but took on Sr., I am suspecting, when he moved out west to California. My Grandfather Ambrose Edward Mckee Jr./Sr. Had two brothers Harshall Floyd whom my father called Uncle H.F and Everett.I can't remember them. I do recall that my Father Ambrose Edward McKee Jr./III said that his Grandmother Corah McKee maiden name Jennings my GGrandmother lived with them and I believe Corah's Mother's maiden name was Hexonbaught(not sure about spelling),that story about Hexonbaught was passed down to my Mother from my Father's Mother, my Grandmother, Edna McKee, maiden name McCord b.1905 CA,d.1973Potland,Oregon, my mother never new if it was true? My Grandfather and Grandmother divorced when my father was two and that was when they moved to Portland,Oregon. My Grandfather was granted custody.Ambrose Edward McKee Sr./Jr. remarried Olive McKee maiden name Wheeler b.Oct.03,1910d.1996Portland,Oregon. Some years ago I was able to write down some information out of the Book of McKee that Ambrose Edward McKee Sr./Jr. had wrote in the book. His Father my GGrandfather Ambrose Edward McKee Sr.b.1859 St.Louis Missouri d.1905 buried Westred,Kansas married to a Corah McKee Maiden name Jennings. My GGGrandfather was a William Slyvanas McKee b.1834 Indiana killed in the lead mines in Joplin, Misssouri. My GGGGrandfather, a James B. McKee b.1809 Ireland married to an Elizabethb.Jan.13,1808 d.Oct. 1867 his father, my GGGGGrandfather was a John McKee they arrived in America 1823 and one of them was or became an Attorney of Law.I wish I could bea 100% certain this information is accurate, however I do not have access to my source, the Book of McKee that my Grandfather had, at this time.
I do know my Grandfather's brother Harshell Floyd was married to an Irene, they had three children Jill, Judy, and Jim they lived in Califoria and Jim married and moved to Washington State.
My Father and Grandfather were Insurance Salesmen and my parents, when my sisters were young and before I was born, traveled with his job.My Mother remembers visiting cousins back east and I think there was an Uncle of my Grandfather a Tom and Grace McKee, a cousin Niel and a cousin Frank. My Grandfather may have had a sister at one time there too.
I do know Edna McKee/McCord eventally moved to Portland.I remember her.Edna's Father was a Frank McCord and her Mother a Etta McCord maiden name Smith b.Idaho, Edna had a brother Stanley McCord, Jack McCord Sr. and his son Jack McCord Jr who lived in Alaska.Edna's family grew up in Placerville CA.
I do hope this information will be helpful and one day if I do gain access to my Grandfather's copy of the Book of McKee I can add more. The one thing I have learned, from my daughter Erin's initial reply post, is that we must write all our history down or it could soon be lost.
