Is this particular McKee family somehow related to the McKee Family that was living in Harrison County, Indiana in 1810?
Harrison County, Indiana is next door to Crawford County, Indiana. The 1810 partial census for Harrison County, Indiana shows a Thomas McKee and William McKee, both between 26 and 45 years old, living in Exeter Township.
I recently discovered that my ancestor, Rebecca Reagan (1767-1856) was married to a Mr. McKee in Virginia or Pennsylvannia circa 1790. I don't know his name yet, but they had (at least) two daughters: Elizabeth McKee & Sarah McKee, both of whom were married in Harrison County, Indiana between 1810 and 1813. After the death of Mr. McKee, Rebecca married John Lang (bef. 1765-1811) in Virginia or Kentucky probably about 1796. John Lang was living near Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky in the late 1790s. He and Rebecca moved to Harrison County, Indiana in 1809. John Lang was killed by an indian in 1811. In 1819, Rebecca married for a third (and last) time to Lemuel Mallory. They moved to Perry County, Indiana in 1820.
Anyway, while searching for records of my ancestors, I came across the name "Thomas McKee" several times in the early court books for Harrison County, Indiana dated about 1814 or so. He seems to have been somewhat prominent, he was also a justice of the peace and performed several pre-1820 marriages.
There was also a few McKee marriages in Harrison County; as well as several McGee marriages. Many prior to 1820 or shortly after.
One online source showed that Thomas McKee (son of James McKee & Agnes Dickson) married Hannah Frakes in Hardin County, Kentucky and that they had a son named Thomas who was born in Harrison County, Indiana in 1810.
Please let me know if you think this is your family.
