It is interesting that a daughter of Ambrose McKee of Mecklenburg Co NC, [who died 1785 and wrote his LW&T 1779 where he mentions all seven of his children by name],

( and who was the father of Ambrose McKee of Rutherford Co TN who was the father of ANDREW MCKEE who went to Jasper / Newton)

Ok, well anyway, this daughter named Martha born ca 1773 married Isaac HERRON at Mecklenburg Co NC.

They went through Kentucky and Tennessee and ended up in Panola Co MS along with Martha's brother William.

Don't know if there is a connection to the MS HERRON but John McKee and his wife Lousia Foster McKee on the 1880 Dyer Co TN federal census end up with John's niece and nephew named HERRIN (spelling from census taker) who lived with them and their several children.

(To further confuse matters this John McKee on the 1880 Dyer census was from Hardeman Co TN and of the Ambrose McKee line and was brother to my husband's great great grandfather William Thomas McKee Sr.

I see Herron of various spellings mentioned back in Ireland and Scotland on the same type records with McKee of various spellings so they both go back aways in the same world.

Best of luck on your search and DAR efforts. Linda McKee
