Linda; I think the two distance contact you have might be Jerry McGee, who is a cousin of mine, although our most recent ancestor lived 300 years ago! If it is Jerry, he has a goldmine of information and it is he, his daughter and I who are going to Ireland. We aren't going as tourists, but rather genealogists. Not to say there won't be sight-seeing, but the purpose of our time together in Ireland will be family history.

I am finding that the area around Saintfield is loaded with McKees and McGees and Magees. Sometimes they are referred to within the same document by two spelling versions. I have found reference to parents spelled McKee and children spelled Magee.

I was the Civilian Personnel Officer at BAD from 73-76. We lived in the same general area of the post as you and had two kids in the school there. My wife Kathie thinks she remembers you, perhaps from the wive's club.

I have found a terrific website for County Down. It has loads of McKee and McGee references. It is at The site is run by an Australian woman named Ros Davies and has surname references plus all sorts of other information including information on towns and historical events. If you haven't done so already, I encourage you to check it out. Bill
