Who are parents of David the Ferryman, McKeesport?

With so many trying to connect to David, b. 1710-1795, from Ireland, can't we figure out and agree who his parent are?
Two families claim him, and I don't know, I started thinking they were John & Ester Hawthorne McKee. From 12 kids, only David and his bro., Andrew,B Scot. 1696, d.1768 Pa.,came to U.S. I have a note David possibly had a 1st wife in Scot., name Prudy McLeary, d.1742, ae.27
His wife, Margaret ? was possibly in Lurgan Twp, Franklin, Pa. My notes allsay they came to the river fork from the eastern valley. (Franklin). Arr'd about 1769. Later Allegheny Co., near Ft. Pitt. Stayed in Allegheny, Westmorland Co. area. Many indian wars.
The other family which came a bit later, I think, had a large family, all born in Ireland, died in U.S. They stayed mostly in Kerr's Creek, Rockbridge, Virginia.
The names of the children in both families are nearly the same. I can't find the Va. families list, but both have Robert, John, Margaret AND a David, b. 1710, md. a Margaret and died in Allegheny Co., Pa. Same as above.
Too strange. It would be easier for me to tie in to this family, as one of the names not on this list, possibly is Samuel, for whom I search. He died with 5 minors in 1780 in Westmorland, but he is not in old David's 1793 Will.
He was called Sgt. and was a brother of Capt. Robert Mck., but a different one from the Va. family.
Can anyone give me an idea of how we can decide which of these families David, McK.Pt. founder, belongs to?
