From Stewart Co TN Deed Book 1789-1818

282 Daniel FINLEY (Washington County, TN), power of attorney to Alexander McKEE (Bladen County, NC), to sell his interest in 1000a granted to his brother-in-law Peter McKEE, deceased; S side of Cumberland River below Elk Creek, adj. the W boundary of Capt. Considering PETER MCKEE, so far, is not exactly a common given name in the southern branch back in the period concerned then possibly he is a cousin for you.

I haven't verified the items I listed - found on a search engine - believe there was also an Alexander McKee later on in Washington Co TN as a veteran of the War for Independence and drew a pension for same.
