March 1783 Chalkley's has record of
............Martha Gray, infant by Robert Gray, her next friend, vs. ALEXANDER MCKEE.----Slander, spoken 17th May 1779. Case writ, 16th December 1782............
Does anyone have any information about this Alexander McKee and what was this lawsuit about? The case comes up about four years following the slander and that seems a long time. I would assume she is still a minor as it calls her the "infant" of Robert Gray. How does one slander an infant bad enough to be sued for it four years later.
