McKee's of Panola Co. MS???
Posted by: Kay (ID *****3742) Date: October 19, 2008 at 13:43:37

In case anyone's interested I've recently found several McKee's who were in the Civil War in Co. E, 1st (Johnston's) Infantry from their muster roll cards...they are...
A.R. McKee, age 22 in 1861
A.Brantley McKee, age 25 in 1861
T.D. McKee (D.T.) age 19 in 1861
J.P. McKee, age blank in 1861
J.W. McKee, age 32 in 1861

I know that A.B. (Ambrose Brantley) McKee was a son of Ambrose and Martha McKee who are in 1850 Hardeman Co. TN and 1860 & 70 Panola Co. MS.....I believe J.W. and T.D. were also sons of Ambrose and Martha McKee.

I believe Ambrose Brantley McKee b. c1836 in Ala. was my g.g.g.gr.father McKee, had son named Andrew Thomas Brantley McKee b. c1863/64 in Panola Co. MS who was my g.g.gr.father, he migrated to Memphis in the mid 1880s...

I believe J.W. was J. Winfree McKee b. c1827/28 in Tenn., he's on the 1880 Panola Co. MS census as Winfree McKee in his brother Ambrose Brantley McKee's home, age 53...there is a Joseph W. McKee in 1860 Panola Co. MS age 35, b. TN, had wife Mary age 28 and son William age 13...

I believe T.D. McKee was Ambrose and Martha's son Thomas b. c1841/42 and in his parents home in 1850 age 10 and in 1860 age 17...

I have no idea at this time who was the A.R. McKee and J.P. McKee, any ideas???

I have a strong feeling that the name of Brantley was Ambrose McKee's wife Martha's maiden name, she is shown as Patsy on the 1870 Panola Co. MS census...

I'm also interested in finding where any of these McKee's are buried in Panola Co. MS...

If you know anything more about any of these McKee's I would appreciate a response, many thanks, Kay.
