Thanks so much Al,
I will look in Chester Co., SC for any possibilities of a connection. I do not know if there are other siblings or not. These are the only ones I have found in my research. They seem to continue to use the sames names over and over so very much it gets confusing.
I DO know the 4 boy's mother was born in SC. about 1780, but I do NOT know the county, her parents, or her maiden name.
When I speak of "the boys" I am referring to:
1) Joseph Spicer - b: abt 1802
2) John -b: 1804 - SC
3) Wiley Thomas - b: 1808 - GA. (my line) - and -
4) William Allen - b: 1809 - GA.
(Some researchers and I are not too sure that John is in the same line, but elder family members in MS. remember their grandparents hearing about the 4 "onery" McKee boys.)
It seems strange that your ancestors would go all the way from SC to TX then all the way back to GA. then MS. then back to TX. With travel so very hard in those days, or did I misunderstand your post? Maybe you meant they ended up in TX. but did not go there first.
Who are the people in your direct line? I found a Dr. Allen McKee (24) and his wife Mary (21) living across the road to my Wiley Thomas McKee in the 1850 Oktibbeha, MS. census.
Neither of the 4 boys have a Son named Allen to the best of my knowledge. But.... this Dr. Allen has a Son named Thomas (4 months old.) He is too young to be your Thomas, but there might be a possibility of Dr. Allen being your Thomas' Son. That would make sense and the ages would be about right. I just thought I would mention it for I have no other knowledge of your family line.
What county in MS. did your Thomas Jefferson live in? I have found these 4 in Choctaw, Oktibbeha, Chickasaw, and Webster Co.
Please keep me posted if you find a connection to these 4 boys. Thanks. - Sharron -
