You mentioned that six persons with surname McKee were in the McKee Group. I presume you have in mind Family Tree DNA.

I am a member (founder) of McKee group. I am not sure that we have six members of that group who can trace their ancestry back to Niall. My DNA test results shows my Y-DNA is the same as Niall. 63 marker cells are identical between Niall and myself (out of 67 cells tested).

William Robert McKee was born (ca 1665), in what was to be named Bute County NC (which county was formed in 1764, and split into two counties (Franklin, Warren) in 1779. There were few records in the Warren County files when I visited there last year.

I understand that nearly all records of Bute County are available in the NC Archives. I plan someday to visit there and do some searching.

The generations since William R McKee are:
Hugh Kelsey McKee, Levi Mills McKee, Hugh Kelsey McKee 2nd (my father) His remains, along with remains of my mother (Cammie Inez Ferrill McKee) were interred in the McKee family plot in New Palestine Cemetery in Picayune, Pearl River County Ms.

Five of their children (out of nine who lived beyond the first day of their life) now survive, living in CA, AK, MD, LA and NC (I live in NC).

I have in mind revising an article I wrote and which is now available on the net, titled, "The Heritage of Hugh Kelsey McKee 2nd". I hope to list each person with the McKee surname and who live(d) in the Southeast U.S. It will likely be a never-ending project, which I hope my daughter will take over. Working title is "Southland Confulence).

Please advise the six persons you mentioned as being part of the "group".

Ed McKee
