Mrs. Brittain Dies at Norman
A beloved pioneer resident of Wilson, Mrs. MARY ELIZABETH BRITTAIN, 76, was claimed by death in a Norman hospital Monday following an illness of two months. She was the mother of Mrs. RICHARD D. GODFREY of Fox. She had been visiting her daughter, Mrs. NEAL VICK at Norman when she was taken to the hospital. One of her sons, EDWARD BRITTAIN of Ardmore, is also well known here.
Rev. FOREST WICKS of the Baptist Church at Wilson conducted services today at the Wilson Baptist Church with burial at Hewitt Cemetery arranged by Leslie Funeral Home of Wilson.
She was born March 5, 1888 at Soper, Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory and died Oct. 5, 1864. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. A. BRITTAIN. She had lived in the Wilson area since 1922 where she reared a fine family of children. She was a devoted member of the Baptist Church in Wilson.
She is survived by two sons, WLATER BRITTAIN, owner of Ardmore and Healdton Ice Service and EDWARD BRITTAIN, employee of Tom Cooper in Ardmore; four daughters, Mrs. MERRITT WITTER at Tonkawa, Mrs. GLEN PROUT of Oklahoma City, Mrs. R. D. GODFREY of Fox, Mrs. NEAL VICK of Norman; three brothers, GEORGE MCKEE, DAN MCKEE and WATIE MCKEE and one sister Mrs. LULA RIDDLE of Soper; 12 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
