My McKee's from SC
I guess this is the first time I've written to this list.I'm not sure why.My gg grandmother, Elizabeth (McKee) Clark was instrumental in why I was born in Mississippi. She was either from York Co., SC or Chester Co., SC - not sure which, and I'm not sure who her parents were, although another researcher has said that a John McKee and Hannah? were her parents. She was born in 1798 and about 1814, she married my gg grandfather, John Clark, who was born in York Co., in 1790.They left York and travelled - at least by 1820 - with John's parents, James and Mary (Cowan) Clark - to Lincoln Co., TN.They were there on the 1820 census.I have absolutely no idea for sure who her parents or siblings were or anything else about her.I do know that she left Lincoln Co. with her minor children after the death of her husband, John, in 1837.Their youngest child, Ebenezer Samuel (Sam) Clark, born in 1835, was my great grandfather.I also don't know why she travelled all the way down to Neshoba Co., Mississippi, but she was there by 1840, one of the earlier settlers in the area. And Neshoba Co. was where my father was born in 1885 - YES, HE WAS UP IN AGE WHEN I WAS BORN in 1936.Does anybody have any information on any McKee's from that area of South Carolina in that timeframe? Thanks, in advance.
Sue (Johnson) Howard
