I start with the marriage of Samuel McKee in Augusta County, VA in 1762 (Augusta was a huge area at that time, but deed records place Samuel about fifteen miles northeast of present Staunton). He and his family moved to Fayette County, KY, in the late 1780s-1790, and he died there in 1813. His sons Archibald and John died in Fayette County and his sons William and David died in Harrison County. His daughter Jane married John Story, a Rev War veteran; Story died in Indiana and Jane moved to Tennessee to live with a son who had settled there, and she died there.

I've been able to identify over 3900 direct descendants of Samuel McKee, but have no Milton McKee in my file.

I've been curious about the town of McKee, Kentucky, but have no evidence that it was named for any of my McKees nor that any of my folks lived there.

I've not been able to determine where or when or to whom my Samuel McKee was born. Just know that he married in 1762 and died in 1813.

I have a flyer about my book which I will e-mail to anyone who is interested. I expect to have copies from the printer before the end of July 2006.

David
