Hi Ruth
Thank you for replying to my posting. This Alexander McKee you mention is the right age to be the brother or a Matilde McKee who married William Rutherfors, one of the children for whom Alexander McKee became guardian. I am wondering if Alexander McKee (the elder) had children named Alexander (yours) and Matilde (who married mine)and was the guardian of the Rutherford children. It seems unlikely that there could be another Alexander McKee in such a small place as Sandhill Ontario at the time. Also, when Matilde McKee married William Rutherfaord, they named one of their sons Alexander McKee Rutherford, while your Alexander McKee named one of his children Matilde. This would suggest that it's the same family.
I am wondering if the wife of my John Rutherford (father of the children whose guardianship passed to Alexander McKee)may have been a McKee. I only know that her name was Ruth. If she was Ruth McKee then Alexander (the elder) may have been her brother, so the children's guardianship went to their uncle.
This is all specualtion, but if you have any other information that would clarify any of this it would be very much appreciated.
Cheers,
Wendy
