Catherine Elmira McKee was born 20 Sept 1842 in Eure, Gates Co, NC. She was the daughter of Donald McKee and Betsy Taylor (who was born about 1819 in Gatesville, Gates Co, NC). Catherine first married Alfred Curl on 14 Jan 1858. He was born in 1837 in Gates Co, NC and died in 1863 in Richmond, VA. They had two children: Harriet Ann Curl (born 2 Nov 1859 and died 7 Feb 1889) and Pleasant Curl (born 28 Apr 1862 and died Feb 1863. Alfred was the son of Richard Curl and Mildred Copeland. Richard and Mildred were married 24 Aug 1827 in Gates Co, NC. Catherine second married James Henry Tuttle on 22 June 1866 in Hartford, NC. He was born 27 Jan 1846 in Perquimans Co, NC and died 4 Dec 1914 in Pasquotank Co, NC. James was the son of Jonathan Tuttle and Abigail Deil. James and Catherine had eleven children. This information is in the book Tuttle and Tuthill Lines in America by Prof Alva M Tuttle, published in 1968. I hope this helps someone in their research. Please let me know if it does.
