Hmmm, yes if the middle James was actually born in 1760 that 1774 date could be ab issue. However, that date was an "about" so if he was five years older, or Joseph was born later, the dates could work out. I also remember what first struck my eye about your original post: you have a Thomas J. as a son, and the McKees I am documenting have at least two Thomas Jefferson McKees in their tree.
