Mystery Mickey...possibly McKee

I have come to an Edward Mickey that was born in 1844 somewhere in Virginia. I CANNOT find his parents or siblings and the fact that he was illiterate leads me to belive that his last name may have been spelled McKEE. His death certificate does NOT have any parental names and his race is stated as "negro". My grandmother tells me that as a child she was told that one of her grandfather's mother was a slave and his father was her owner. Maybe he was the one. If anyone knows or may know anything please let me know!! I would GREATLY appreciate it! I can be contacted at hjohnson@bright.net
