Happy New Year to Linda and all,

In regards to progress on John Mckee. The honest answer is " I don't know." It would seem that whenever the early Scots-Irish McKee famlies couldn't originate a given name they chose John. I am overwhelmed with John McKees.

The BLM site lists several John McKee land patents grants in MS but there are no family ties. I hope to get related feedback from several MS genealogical groups, knowing they are all volunteers with limited time to search.

I have turned to the Midwest Historical & Genealogical Society (MHGS) of Wichita KS. This well organized group will do searches at $5.00 per hour. My interest is early SC and NC between 1780-1820. The record indexes for Mecklenburg County,NC list thirty or forty McKees including many John McKees. Included are deed abstracts, county records, will abstracts and tax lists. Not much luck on York District SC. Those area records are extant bact to 1780's.

Maybe the new year will result in a breakthrough.
