I feel there must be a connection to a family I've been working on. Here is what I have:
William H. Redfield b. 1821 PA -d. 1877 Park Co., MT. m. #1 Lavinia F. Williams who d. 1863 in Mitchell Co., IA. He m. #2 1864 to Octavia Lanphear (dau of James Monroe Lanphear and Arvilla Ruhama Weeks of Wisconsin). Their son,
Frederick J. Redfield b. 1865 Wisconsin traveled through Minnesota and Iowa with parents & siblings, settling in Park Co., MT 1884. Fred J. married in 1885 to Mary McKee, dau of David McKee. She was b. 26 Sept 1868 in Scotland and migrated to America in 1884 per 1910 census. Fred and Mary lived in Park Co., MT in 1900 then the measles took two daughters and they moved to Manhattan,MT (Gallatin Co.) by 1910. Fred was a carpenter/builder. They are still there in 1920, but Mary dies in 1921 and is buried there at Meadow View Cem. Fred and unmarried children went to Texas where he remarries. He dies in 1947 and his obit shows his surviving children scattered. I'm interested in the daughter Kathleen who married to Frank Morse and moved to Washington State. Frank was the hired hand living with the family on the 1910 census.
I can email more details if this sounds interesting for you. It's a very unusual story. There is a lot of information in the Park Co.,MT library where this Redfield family homesteaded.
