I am not sure about the Newton County connection. I just found them in Kemper county in 1880 after several years of unfruitful searching. I have not yet determined where they were before 1880.

My ancestor, Love (McKee) Childers and her brother, John Henry, came to Texas shortly after 1890. They came with a group. Until I can find them in 1870 and 1860, I can't determine which of the other women were McKees and who were Childers. Family lore says that two of the other women were McKees, but so far, I have been unable to verify that.
