The Mackey book dealt with an assortment of people. Benjamin's father Daniel McKie( married to Frances Herndon) was a Revolutionary soldier from Virginia as I remember. Benjamin was born in South Carolina, but when he married in 1837, he had assorted kin living nearby in Mississippi. I would think that other major libraries would have the book. It had some 600 pages and was well documented. I don't know where you live, but you could probably find it in a large library. There was nothing, as I recall, to make it particularly appealing to people in North Carolina. You could try interlibrary loan. I've had luck with that from time to time--at least the librarians could check to see where it is!

Good luck, Jane
