Today I posted two pictures on my family web site at: http://patbauer.homestead.com/files/p408.htm. I was given these two old paintings (or photos) in Junction, Texas where my grandfather's brother, Willliam Robertson McKEE lived from 1880 until his death in 1940. They were included in the possessions of Bill's second wife, Stella "Tottie" MARTIN McKee Whalen, when she died. Her Martin relatives couldn't identify them so thought they were from Bill's family.
William Robertson McKEE and Susan (Susie) Baker PEPPER married in 1879 and I think the picture of the younger couple are Bill and Susie. Susie's mother, Rebecca BAKER Pepper, died in 1866 and her dad, Benjamin Franklin PEPPER, remarried in 1867 to Sally Ann COYLE. By 1879 Bill's father, Andrew H. McKEE, was already deceased and his mother, Martha THOMPSON McKee, had died shortly after Bill's birth in 1857 so that rules out any of Bill's family. I thought perhaps they were Bill's grandparents but his grandparents on the McKee side were deceased and his mom's parents (Thompson) were both gone by this time, too. That leaves the Pepper family as being the only possible people in the second picture, IF they are relatives. Does anyone recognize these people? Or do they resemble any pictures in your possession? Thanks for any help you can give me. Pat Bauer in SW Washington state
