I don't know of the connection, but I would strongly suspect that Samuel was related to William McKee (d. 1823), of Mifflin Twp. He was probably born about 1750 and was in the area by 1775. He married Margaret and had one son, William, born about 1794. William was probably the brother of Robert (d. 1828) of St. Clair Twp., Allegheny Co., PA, and of Gavin/Guian McKee (1751-1827), who went to Fleming Co., KY, in 1789 or so. They in turn were probably nephews of David McKee (1710-1795), of McKeesport, which is in the neighborhood. I'm a descendant of Gavin and there is an oral tradition of being related to the McKeesport family, which fits with the known records of him in Allegheny County.
