Alabama McKee+Powell: Help!
Posted by: Carol Palazzo Date: March 28, 2000 at 20:20:50

Searching for information on Elizabeth "Betsy" or "Bitty" McKee/Mackey/McKey, b. about 1812 in GA. Married to William "Billy" Powell. Found on the 1860 Dekalb Co., Alabama census with children, and then again in 1880 in Etowah Co. According to family information that was passed down to me, Elizabeth's family was wealthy and disinherited her when she married Billy Powell. Another piece of information is that they were "Black Dutch," whatever that means! Anyone with knowledge of Mckee's in the Marshall/Etowah/Blount/Dekalb areas of Alabama please e-mail me.
