This may help? I collect letters to and from banks and have one dated 1st August 1846 and sent from THOMAS MCKEAN, Provincial Bank of Ireland, KILKENNY to the Bank's office in London. A significant number of Irish Bank staff in the early 19th Century were Scottish and this may therefore link to your Edinburgh reference? Any use? Happy to provide a copy of the signature for your records.
