Rev. James William McKean, President of Lenox Collegiate Institute at Hopkinton, Iowa, left with his entire school in May 1864 to enlist in Company C, 44th I.V.I. - he died a Captain in Memphis, Tennessee, in the officer's hospital on July 9, 1864. Looking for wife & children.
