I recently found this McKean/McKeen genealgical web page while surfing the Internet and thought I would bring to the attention of everyone something I am involved in that may be of interest to McKean/McKeen genealogical researchers. The below quoted e-mail that I recently sent to my McKean/McKeen firends and relatives gives the details. If you're intersted, please send me an e-mail.
"Subject: Reprint of MCKEAN GENEALOGIES, 1902, by Cornelius McKean of Perry, Iowa
I am sending this message to everyone I know who may be interested - it is concerning the book, MCKEAN GENEALOGIES FROM THE EARLY SETTLEMENT OF MCKEANS OR MCKEENS IN AMERICA TO THE PRESENT TIME, 1902, by Cornelius McKean of Perry, Iowa. I have been searching for a copy of this book, without success, for years - it is one of the major works genealogical works for the "McKeens/McKeans in America. The only other work that I know of that is of the same magnitude is MACIAIN CHIEFS by Bob Marks (and Wilma Powell and John McKeen for the 1990 printing), Now, however, I have located a company in New England that will do a reprint run AND a McKeen in New England with an original that he is willing to let the company use for the reprint job. The reprint process will take about ten weeks once the order is placed. The price for a single copy reprint I got from the company is $32.50 softcover and $44.50 hardcover; but the per-copy price if fifty are ordered at the same time drops to $19.50 softcover or $26.70 hardcover, plus shipping about $5.00 per book. Nothing was said about deposits or other details and I have no idea what the cost per book will be until I find out how many people want one or more. Hence, this message. Anyone who wants a copy or copies, please include your name in your e-mail to me (sometimes I can't tell the person's name from the e-mail address) and how many you want - be sure to specify hard cover or softcover and how many of each. Chuck McKeen will be driving up to Salem to discuss further details with the book company soon so let me know at your very earliest opportunity. Let your friends and relatives know about this, too. This is an opportunity that may not come again. I intend to order 5 hardcopy editions for myself plus some more for Christmas presents. My regrets if anyone feels "spammed" by this somewhat impersonal message but I hope it finds everyone in good health and spirits.
With my warmest aloha from Hawaii,
